Gaya College of Engineering is
a government engineering college managed by the Department of Science and
Technology of Government
of Bihar. It is approved and recognised by AICTE and is
affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University in Patna. It was formerly
named 'Magadh Engineering College (MEC)' from 1980 to 1994;
now it is a public institute under name 'Gaya College of Engineering (GCE)
It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister
of Bihar Nitish Kumar on 19 November 2008 in presence of
renowned dignitaries and educationists at a function held in college campus
itself.
Admission:
The Bihar Combined Entrance
Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) conducts the entrance test in two stages.
The first stage is the screening test. The screened candidates appear in the
mains Examination (second stage). Based on the Merit List of the Bihar Combined
Entrance Competitive Examination (2nd stage), successful candidates have to go
through counselling (third stage). For further details see BCECE site.
For lateral entry in Second year, one must have passed Diploma in
engineering/B.Sc. and should be in the merit list of BCECE(LE).
Campus :
The campus is situated at Bihar State
Highway-4 Shrikrishnanagar locality on the outskirts of Gaya district, 15 km from the main town.
The college is spread over 87 acres. There are two
academic buildings, one workshop and two campus hostels for third year and
final year students.
The area is lush green and free from pollution. A single
small tea shop is available in the campus.
A branch of Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank
is Functional here serving the needs of all students.

LABORATORY & WORKSHOPS:
All major Laboratories have been set up at GCE, gaya. The labs
required for the B.Tech courses are ready. All laboratories are well equipped
and well maintained.Computer science lab is one of the best. It is well
maintained and well equipped. It consists of all machinery which required for
the course.
Workshops for Mechanical Engineering
and Electrical Engineering departments are also well maintained and functioning
in full swing.
LIBRARY:
GCE has well equipped library. This library has a collection of
text and reference books related to the course of study. A set of essential
text book is being issued to the students individually. Every students are
given their separate library cards on which they can issue books.
HOSTELS:
GCE provide hostel facility to 2nd,
3rd and 4th year students. Hostels are well maintained and set up with the
modern facility like telephones, WIFI , television sets, Common room, in-door
games court. Rooms are single and double bedded. Each student has an individual
cot, reading table, chair, fan and wardrobe of each of it occupants. Rooms are
well lit and well ventilated. A mess with its dining room is functioning in the
hostel, Breakfast, lunch and dinner is being served at reasonable rates (Rs
-1500/- to Rs -2000/-per Month).
Note: single and double rooms are available
according to the CGP of students in university exam.
BUS FACILITY:
Bus
facility is available for the students for their easy transportation.
Bus
facility is provided by the college at free of cost.
There
are no charges being taken by the college.
There
are around 4 to 5 buses which runs daily across Gaya and picks up students at
different places.
